globalBIOMASS visits Drax

This week, the globalBIOMASS team headed to North Yorkshire (UK) to visit Drax Power Station's outstanding facilities. We were talked through a wood pellet's journey from the moment it arrives into the stockyard all the way through to pulverisation, firing and electricity generation.

We then were treated to a guided tour of the station.

We saw the biomass storage facilities, the cooling towers, and the enormous building that houses the boilers and turbines. We were awed by the sheer proportions of all this essential equipment and machinery, and by the neatness and professionalism of their operations.
